2014 (53rd) Games Report

What a fantastic day!

We enjoyed a tremendous afternoon of warm and bright weather for a change, and the village turned out in great numbers for our 53rd Games. We had visitors from Argentina, Germany, the Netherlands and even a large touring party of ladies footballers and some of their family from Davis Legacy soccer team in California, USA.

Thanks to all those who took part in a very impressive Chieftain's Procession through the village, whether on float or on foot, to the pipe bands and their ever-present supporters, to the heavyweight competitors, the dancers from Cherry Dance, and what seemed like the hundreds of junior athletics competitors - some of whom went away with a handful of medals!

Chieftain Donald Williams enjoyed a massive turnout from Coalburn village, and proudly performed his duties throughout the day - we are also grateful to Coalburn IOR Pipe Band for leading the procession and also for 'beating the retreat' through the vilage after the Games, along with regulars Lanark & District Pipe Band.

We hope Tartan Queen Ruth, Princesses Rebecca & Amy, and Clansmen Kyle & Findlay all enjoyed their day too.
